The formula: Scholarship + Athleticism + Character = Greatness.

Mission Statement

Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club provides educational opportunities to help youth improve their grades and master technology, keeps them physically fit with recreational programming and empowers children to realize economic success by providing mentors, toolkits for networking and college scholarships. MDBGC is a youth-serving organization that annually offers direct-service programming to 3,000 children and indirect programming to over 10,000 in athletics, education, arts, healthy living and leadership and professional development.

Dana Brown Charitable Trust’s support has allowed them to impact children’s lives. Their athletes are also 47% more likely to refrain from non-healthy behaviors than the national average of teens not engaged in sports. Additionally, 90% of their alumni say that Mathews-Dickey taught them teamwork, self-confidence and leadership skills.

Impact

Funds supplied by The Dana Brown Charitable Trust specifically supported several vital capital expenditures needed to strengthen the operation, improve the safety and enhance the experience for youth in Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club’s four core programming areas: Cultural Arts & Health, Educational Enrichment, Sports & Recreation and Summer Day Camp. Funding also allowed Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club to refurbish football helmets to meet safety requirements, replace scoreboard at their stadium, replace a faltering HVAC unit servicing programming/office areas, secure a new software System to streamline educational enrichment activities , and resurface their basketball gym floor.
