Providing the academic resources and inclusive community that allow motivated middle school students to develop a love of learning, embrace who they are and develop the skills and character they need to succeed and positively impact their communities.

Mission Statement

The Dana Brown Charitable Trust grant helped Aim High with their continued growth at their newest host campus at Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School. In 2015, Aim High expanded to Villa and enrolled a new class of 60 sixth graders. Aim High will continue to enroll a new class of sixth graders through 2018, until the site is at full capacity of approximately 150 sixth through ninth grade students. This expansion will ultimately allow Aim High to increase enrollment by 80 percent.

Impact

In 2015 and 2016, Aim High enrolled a new sixth grade class at Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School in addition to the sixth grade classes they enrolled at their existing host campuses of John Burroughs and St. Louis Priory schools. Their enrollment increased by nearly 60% from 2014 to 2016 and is expected to increase by approximately 80% by 2018. They also served students from more than 50 schools in the St. Louis Public School District, Normandy Schools Collaborative and Ritenour School District which was an increase of more than 30 schools. They also measured the following outcomes from our 2016 program:

  • 90% of Aim High students said that being in Aim High helped them think more positively about school
  • 99% of Aim High students indicated high school graduation as an educational goal
  • 98% of Aim High students indicated post-secondary graduation as an educational goal
  • 88% of Aim High students showed academic gains in 2 or more core content areas of math, science, English and social studies
  • 88% of Aim High students showed improvements in behaviors such as leadership, initiative and responsibility
