Forest Park Forever

45 Employees | 30 Years

Working in partnership with the City of St. Louis to restore, maintain and sustain Forest Park, for the enjoyment of all, now and forever.

Mission Statement

The grant awarded by the Dana Brown Charitable Trust in 2012 allowed Forest Park Forever to hire a full-time Education Coordinator to administer new and enhanced Education and Community Outreach Programs at Forest Park, with a focus on programming that would annually benefit 100+ economically disadvantaged, underserved St. Louis youth. The aim of this programming would be to help connect local youth with the natural world and help them realize the benefits of outdoor experiential education and active recreation.

Impact

In the three years since receiving this grant, having a full-time education coordinator has allowed Forest Park Forever to expand their efforts exponentially, not only keeping our current programs thriving but adding programming that serves a wide range of students and adults. Within the education sector alone, in the recent years they have provided nature-based professional development to more than 2,000 teachers and more than 5,000 students. They also had the capacity to launch and secure additional funding for a new green workforce development program called Nature Works, which provided a paid ‘green’ internship for high school students and brought environmental learning to more than 4,000 local youth.
