Lift for Life Academy

Educate. Empower. Uplift.

Mission Statement

In 2000, Lift For Life Academy (LFLA) became the first independent charter middle school to open in the City of St. Louis. LFLA is a challenging learning community where students are empowered to maximize their full potential as students and citizens. The school serves nearly 700 students in grades K-2 and 6-12.

St. Louis city families choose LFLA for their children as a creative and motivating alternative to public schools. Students are motivated to come to school: daily attendance averages 93%, and LFLA maintains a graduation rate of 97%. With dedicated teachers, who ensure students are challenged and engaged, and supportive leadership from administration, students are welcomed into a compassionate, safe setting where they can learn and excel.

Impact

The Dana Brown Charitable Trust is proud to offer financial support to LFLA in order to help local students in pursuit of a constructive, effective learning environment that will uplift and help them become better students and more empowered residents of St. Louis.

75% of entering 6th grade students at LFLA need special attention to elevate reading and math skills. With small classes, targeted instruction and individual tutoring, students close this gap within one and a half years. Support from the Dana Brown Charitable Trust helps LFLA meet its financial needs so that the academy can continue to offer this kind of essential, personalized attention to its students.

80% of LFLA graduates in the past several years have pursued college, technical school or the military. College discussions begin in the 6th grade, followed by college tours and assistance with applications, the ACT and financial and scholarship preparation.

The chance to earn college credit while still in high school is one more way LFLA works to help students get the advantage on their road to higher education. Over 33% of graduating seniors have already earned college credits in history, English and/or math.

Through a partnership with the Dana Brown Charitable Trust, Lift for Life Academy is able to inspire and stimulate students who might struggle in traditional school settings and help them reach greater heights.
