Mission Statement

Our Little Haven’s innovation is early intervention care, with focus on comprehensive treatment services for young children. Early care helps build a solid foundation for future growth. Without a solid foundation, healthy development is difficult. Through Our Little Haven treatment, children who were at great risk due to their adverse early childhood experiences can be safe, free from pain, doors can be open to them, and their lives can hold promise. Our Little Haven provides professional services to promote stable outcomes for young children who have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment or other trauma. Care includes outpatient psychological services for children and families, therapeutic preschool/day treatment (ages 3-5) and case management for children/families in the foster care system. Since 1993, Our Little Haven has served the St. Louis region, providing early intervention healing care for more than 600 children annually. Within this mission, The Dana Brown Charitable Trust provided funding for Our Little Haven’s therapeutic preschool.

Impact

The Dana Brown Charitable Trust provided funds to Our Little Haven to make improvement to their therapeutic preschool which has been in operation since 2003. Before The Dana Brown Charitable Trust’s grant, the Academy building had carpet which was 12 years old and had seen heavy use. The wall paint throughout the building was more than 15 years old. The playground equipment was in need of replacement. More specifically, there was a multi-child tire swing that was not as useful or gentle/safe as traditional individual soft-seat swings would be.

After funding updates included:

  • New carpet
  • Re-painting throughout the facility
  • New playground equipment to fit the age group served most appropriately and most safely
